Vice Commissioner Kim Seong-hoon reportedly expressed his intention to resign on the 15th. It has been seven days since he received a petition from more than half of the Security Office staff demanding his resignation on the 8th.
On that day, Vice Commissioner Kim convened an emergency meeting with all former Security Office employees and stated he would resign by the end of this month and would not be involved in duties for the remaining period.
Vice Commissioner Kim also reportedly apologized to the employees for referring to the Security Office as a 'soldier group.' It is reported that Lee Kwang-woo, head of the Security Headquarters, who received the petition for resignation along with Kim, is currently on vacation.
Vice Commissioner Kim and Deputy Minister Lee are under police investigation for allegedly leading the obstruction of the execution of the first arrest warrant against former President Yoon Seok-youl on January 3 (obstruction of special public duty).
Security Office employees circulated a petition demanding the resignation of Kim and Lee, alleging that they used the president's trust to turn the Security Office into a private organization and engaged in various illegal acts, including abuse of power.
