It is reported that police are also looking into the drug use allegations against Lee Cheol-kyu, a member of the National Assembly from the People Power Party, who was caught while searching for liquid cannabis using the 'throwing' method in residential areas.

An official from the Korean National Police Agency stated during a regular press briefing on Dec. 14, "We are investigating for supplementary evidence following the results from the National Forensic Service (NFS)," and added, "We are broadly investigating the source of the cannabis, accomplices, and any other crimes."

In response to a question asking whether other charges were applied besides the allegation that Lee was caught trying to obtain liquid cannabis, a police official replied, "Yes."

Previously, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul reportedly received notification from the NFS that a positive result for cannabis was found in Lee's hair. Following this, the police are also believed to be investigating whether Lee engaged in smoking or ingesting the cannabis.

Last year in October, Lee was arrested by the police for attempting, but failing, to find the liquid cannabis buried in a flowerbed in the dwellings of Seocho District using the so-called 'throwing' method. The suspect was officially identified on Jan. 3 of this year, and was arrested by the police on Feb. 25.

At the time Lee was searching the flowerbed in the dwellings for liquid cannabis, he was accompanied by two people, including his wife, in a rental car. The police are currently investigating four people, including these three and the person accused of supplying the cannabis.

Under the Narcotics Control Act, anyone who smokes or ingests cannabis or cannabis seed husks may face up to five years in prison or a fine of up to 50 million won.
