Yonsei University announced on the 14th that it will provide scholarships to all doctoral students, regardless of whether they are in the humanities and social sciences or the sciences, starting from the second semester of this year, making it the first university in the country to do so.
This scholarship program consists of the "Yonsei Companion Scholarship" for humanities and social sciences and the "Yonsei Special Scholarship for Doctoral Programs" for sciences. The scholarship for humanities and social sciences is designed to allow students to focus on their studies without financial burden. Science students will receive additional scholarships from the university on top of the research living allowances supported by the government.
This scholarship program provides a fixed amount during the regular enrollment semester without separate selection, making it the first of its kind implemented at a domestic university. Students in the integrated master's and doctoral program will receive fixed support for all 4th to 6th semesters.
Yoon Dong-seob, president of Yonsei University, said, "Supporting outstanding talents to fully immerse themselves in research and academia is the most fundamental role of a university, and this scholarship is an investment and promise for Yonsei University to lead the future academic ecosystem."
