The Seoul city government announced on the 14th that starting this year, it will expand the operations of the 'Han River Circular Observation Wheel (Han River Hae-chika)' to Nanjido Han River Park. Following its pilot operation last year at Banpo Han River Park, the operational section will be expanded this year.
This year, the Han River Hae-chika will operate from Banpo Han River Park and Nanjido Han River Park until Nov. 30.
At Banpo Han River Park, it will operate a round trip of about 7.3 km from Exit 2 of Dongjak Station to Seorae Island, Sebit Island, and Seoul Wave. The operating hours and intervals are from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the week, at 20-minute intervals, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and holidays, at 15-minute intervals. It will operate year-round.
The operational section at Nanjido Han River Park is about 6.2 km round trip. It will operate from Mangwon Entrance to the Mirror Fountain, Water Sports Center, BTS Forest, Water Playground, Youth Square, and Nanjido Camping Ground.
The operating hours and intervals are from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the week, at 30-minute intervals, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and holidays, at 20-minute intervals, and it will operate year-round.
The Seoul city government will offer the Han River Hae-chika for free until this year. Afterward, it plans to review the possibility of charging fees and ongoing operational plans through a satisfaction survey and performance analysis of users.
Park Jin-young, head of the Future Han River Headquarters in Seoul, said, “I hope that the expansion of this circular observation wheel will make the Han River a representative attraction of Seoul that is loved by more citizens and foreign tourists.”
