On the afternoon of the 11th, a train on the Gyeongi-Jungang Line in Paju city made an emergency stop due to track abnormalities. This incident has disrupted the current operations of the Gyeongi-Jungang Line. No casualties were reported.
Korail stated that around 3:30 p.m. on this day, a train on the Gyeongi-Jungang Line identified a problem with the track facilities while operating between Wolong Station and Geumchon Station (toward Geumchon Station) and made an emergency stop.
At that time, there were 50 passengers on board the train. Korail's initial response team was dispatched to assist in disembarking the passengers, who were then transported by a prepared bus. Currently, shuttle trains are temporarily operating on one track between Munsoon Station and Geumchon Station (toward Munsoon Station).
A Korail official noted that, "There are no injuries resulting from this incident, and the cause will be investigated."
The city of Paju, in a disaster message sent to residents that afternoon, stated, "At 3:50 p.m., an (electric train) derailment occurred on the Gyeongi-Jungang Line heading from Munsoon to Seoul, resulting in service being suspended." However, this was later revealed to have been sent in error.
