Around 2:50 p.m. on the 11th, a construction site in Yeongdeungpo-dong, Yeongdeungpo District, experienced a power outage after the site’s piling knocked over a utility pole.
According to the Yeongdeungpo District Office, a drilled pile, which is a foundational column embedded in the ground for building construction, collapsed while entangled with power lines, causing two utility poles to fall.
As of now, no injuries have been reported. Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) has suspended power supply to nearby areas and is investigating the exact scale of the outage.
A Yeongdeungpo District official noted, “We sent disaster text messages to residents to inform them of the outage,” adding, “We are currently conducting repair work with the goal of completion by 9 p.m.”
