Former President Yoon Seok-yeol and his spouse left the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, at 5:09 p.m. on the 11th. They arrived at their home in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, at 5:30 p.m.
Former President Yoon walked out to the front gate of the residence and waved to supporters who were waiting for him. He shook hands and hugged university student supporters. Some supporters shed tears. Former President Yoon then began to move by vehicle. Kim Keon-hee was also in the vehicle.
Former President Yoon's home is an apartment in Seocho-dong where he lived before being elected. As he entered the apartment complex by vehicle, he opened the window and waved to supporters to greet them. Supporters continued to shout slogans like "President Yoon Seok-yeol" and "Yoon again" for some time even after his vehicle entered the apartment.
Earlier, former President Yoon was removed from office on the 4th due to a ruling by the Constitutional Court that upheld his impeachment. It came 1,060 days after he took office. The Constitutional Court found that former President Yoon lost public trust after committing five serious unconstitutional and illegal acts, including the declaration of martial law on December 3, the deployment of military forces to the National Assembly, and the martial law proclamation.
Former President Yoon is currently charged with "leadership of a rebellion" and is expected to face his first trial at the Seoul Central District Court on the 14th.
