Jeon Han-gil, a history instructor who has been opposing the impeachment of former President Yoon Seok-youl, said, "I am contemplating whether I should stop the history lectures I have been giving for 26 years," sharing his situation.
On the 9th, Jeon said on his YouTube channel "Jeon Han-gil TV," "My fate changed since the emergency martial law that occurred in December last year, and my life has changed."
Jeon lamented, "Because I am talking about politics, I am receiving a lot of criticism from those with different opinions. I was called 'garbage' by a close friend, my wife said, 'If this continues, let's get a divorce,' and my students, who said they respected me, expressed their disappointment, saying, 'I am disappointed.' Everyone around me has ceased to contact me. Even close friends seem to be quite cautious around me."
He added, "I used to appear on broadcasts frequently, but I got cut from the one that was the main one. I also got cut from Netflix's 'When Life Gives You Tangerines,'" stating, "My life has changed in just 3 to 4 months."
Regarding the reason for continuing his political activities, Jeon stated, "Democracy is collapsing," and emphasized, "I need to raise my voice for the 2030 generation." He remarked, "I earned 6.5 billion won last year, but I am doing this while giving that up."
He expressed, "I am taking action despite it being unrelated to my will because of a declaration of the state of affairs," adding, "My young students could be reported and threatened. I worry about the world they will live in, which prompted me to come out."
Moreover, Jeon, who had previously stated he would return as an instructor after the March 1st movement, noted that he could not stop upon seeing former President Yoon being impeached. He remarked, "I expected former President Yoon to return to duty before March 1st, but that did not happen," and added, "As democracy is collapsing and the country is on the verge of collapse, I could not just ignore it."
