Myung Tae-kyun and Kim Young-sun, former lawmaker of the People Power Party, who were arrested and indicted on charges of receiving and giving money in exchange for parliamentary nominations, were released on bail on the 9th. The two were arrested on Nov. 15 last year.

On that day, the 4th Criminal Division of the Changwon District Court (Director General Kim In-taek) announced the approval of bail for Myung and former lawmaker Kim, stating that it had considered "the protection of the right to defense and other factors comprehensively."

The court imposed conditions when granting bail to the two individuals, including restrictions on their residence, a deposit of 50 million won, a requirement to obtain permission for any change in residence, an obligation to attend court summons, and a prohibition on destruction of evidence.

Myung and former lawmaker Kim were indicted for allegedly receiving 80.7 million won through Kang, Kim's accountant, in connection with recommending Kim as a candidate for the National Assembly election in the Changwon, Uichang district from August 2022 to November 2023.

Additionally, Myung and former lawmaker Kim were also indicted for allegedly receiving 240 million won from individuals A and B, who were running for the mayor of Goryeong County and city councilors in Daegu before the June 1 local elections in 2022, in connection with nominations for that local election along with Kim Tae-yeol, the former director of the Future Korea Research Institute.

The first trial for the two has progressed to the third court session. The fourth session is scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. on the 22nd.
