Oh Se-hoon, the mayor of Seoul, will declare his candidacy for the 21st presidential election on the 13th.
A spokesperson for Mayor Oh noted on the 9th through a press release, "Mayor Oh has decided to officially announce his presidential candidacy on the 13th."
However, the time and place for the candidacy announcement are still undecided. The spokesperson for Mayor Oh stated regarding the location of the announcement, "It will be a symbolic place that has formed the core axis of Seoul's administration."
Mayor Oh is reportedly considering running for president while maintaining his position as mayor of Seoul. He is said to have about 50 days of vacation left and plans to use the remaining leave to participate in the party's primary.
To run for the presidential vacancy election, local government heads must resign at least 30 days before the election date, according to the Public Official Election Act. Considering that the presidential election is set for June 3rd, the deadline will be May 4th.
On that day, Kim Byung-min, the Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs, Lee Jong-hyun, the Special Advisor for Communication with the Public, Park Chan-gu, the Political Affairs Advisor, and Lee Ji-hyun, the Vision Strategy Advisor, reportedly submitted their resignations. Kim Byung-min is expected to serve as the camp's Spokesperson after resigning.
