A daughter in her 20s was sentenced to prison for attempting to stab and kill her father in front of a police officer after he killed the puppy she was raising.
The Incheon District Court's Criminal Division 13 (Director General Kim Gi-pung) announced on the 8th that it sentenced A (24, female) to 3 years in prison for the attempted murder of a family member.
A was charged with attempting to stab her father B (57) to death with a weapon around 3:03 a.m. on December 10 of last year at their dwelling in Incheon.
She committed the crime out of anger after learning that her father had thrown her beloved puppy out the window, resulting in its death.
An hour before the incident, A had assaulted her father, prompting a patrol car to respond, and the incident occurred while police officers were present inside the dwelling.
The court noted, "The defendant tried to stab her father to death in front of police officers," adding, "Although the attempt was unsuccessful, the victim, who had previously undergone surgery for colon cancer, could have easily lost his life."
However, the court stated, "The victim showed remorse while admitting to the crime," and took into account that she acted impulsively out of anger over the death of her cherished puppy, as well as the fact that the victim pleaded in court for leniency for his daughter.
