The Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Presidential Archives announced on the 7th that it will conduct a site inspection of presidential record production agencies from the 9th to the 14th for the transfer of 'records from the 20th president' over four days.
The institutions subject to the site inspection by the Presidential Archives include a total of 28 presidential advisory institutions, such as the Office of the President, the National Security Office, the Presidential Security Service, and the National Committee for Peaceful Reunification, as stipulated by the Presidential Records Act.
This site inspection is a follow-up measure to the formal request made on the 4th to presidential record production agencies for cooperation in the transfer of records from President Yoon.
According to the law on the management of presidential records (Presidential Records Act), presidential record production agencies are required to initiate the transfer of records immediately after the president's vacancy and complete it before the term of the next president begins.
During the site inspection, the Presidential Archives plans to check compliance with the contents of the formal letter regarding the prohibition of the movement or reclassification of presidential records, as well as the quantity and organization status of records by type, including electronic and non-electronic records.
In addition, the Presidential Archives will conduct training for personnel responsible for record transfers and assess the needs for support regarding organizational items for records by production agency.
