The removal of former President Yoon Suk-yeol has increased the likelihood that the nationwide assessment date in June will coincide with the next presidential election, causing confusion among test takers.

According to political circles and the education sector on the 6th, the date for the next presidential election, resulting from President Yoon's removal, is currently most likely to be June 3. Under existing law, the election must be held on a day between May 24 and June 3, and many believe June 3 is feasible, considering the weekend and early voting days.

However, that day is scheduled for the June mock examination organized by the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation, which administers the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT). The mock exams organized by the institute are held twice a year, in June and September. The June mock exam is the only one held before the start of early admissions applications, making it very important for test takers to determine whether to apply.

Nevertheless, it is expected that the election day and the June mock examination will not overlap. This is due to schools often being used as polling stations during important elections and the fact that some test takers are eligible voters. If election day and the June mock examination date were to coincide, it could infringe on the voting rights of those test takers who are voters.

The Ministry of Education also stated that if the schedules overlap, it would change the date of the June mock examination.

However, even if the June mock examination schedule is changed, it may still be burdensome for schools and test takers because the schedule is set considering the academic calendar and JINDO progress. In particular, if the exam is postponed, it may become too close to the end-of-semester exam schedule for third-year high school students, which could be disadvantageous.
