Lee Han-gyeong, Vice Administrator of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters (Head of Disaster Safety Management at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety), noted on the 3rd regarding the wildfires that occurred in Ulsan, North Gyeongsang, and South Gyeongsang provinces that "the central joint investigation team will begin its activities in earnest starting next week."
Vice Administrator Lee said during the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters meeting held that day at the Government Seoul Building, "We will flexibly operate the investigation methods and timelines, prioritizing on-site voices by damage category regarding the wildfires."
He added, "Based on the investigation results of the joint investigation team, we will enhance the regional resilience to wildfire disasters so that we can respond more quickly and restore swiftly even if unforeseen large wildfires occur in the future."
Vice Administrator Lee also mentioned, "We have restored power supply to 99% through a wide-area support system centered on Korea Electric Power Corporation for individual households," and stated, "We will restore LPG facilities quickly after safety checks."
He also indicated, "Regarding concerns about water pollution, we will strengthen monitoring by shortening measurement cycles and will prevent the inflow of wildfire remnants into rivers through pollution prevention networks."
Vice Administrator Lee stated that he would give appropriate recognition along with public commendation for those who volunteered during the wildfire.
He remarked, "Reflecting on this wildfire response process, there were countless heroes who did not overlook their suffering neighbors and lent a helping hand," and expressed gratitude to those who dedicated themselves to ensuring the evacuation of vulnerable groups without regard for their own safety.
