The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 1st that the number of participants in the health management app "Wrist Doctor 9988" has surpassed 2 million. Wrist Doctor measures steps taken using smartphones and provides points that can be used like cash at participating restaurants and convenience stores. Users can earn 200 points for walking 8,000 steps.

The city introduced Wrist Doctor in 2021. The minimum age for participation will be lowered from 19 to 18 starting next month. Customized health services such as reducing sugar intake and smoking cessation will also be provided. Kim Tae-hee, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Citizens Health Bureau, noted, "We will help citizens in a super-aged society (20% of the population aged 65 and older) enjoy healthy later years."
