The Constitutional Court announced on the 1st the date of the ruling on the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol, after which some exits at Anguk Station on Subway Line 3, near the court, were closed. Anguk Station will be completely closed on the 4th, the date of the impeachment ruling.
According to the Seoul Transportation Corporation, Anguk Station closed exits 2 to 5 on Anguk Station Square near the court from 12 p.m. that day. The closure was changed to exits 1 to 4 starting at 12:20 p.m. Inside Anguk Station, metal shutters have been lowered to prevent passengers from exiting through the closed exits.
Exit 1 is close to the Seoul Craft Museum (the former building of Pungmun High School), and Exit 5 is next to the Seoul Senior Welfare Center, where protests against President Yoon's impeachment take place. Exit 6 leads towards Jongno Police Station. Exits 2 and 3 are close to the court, and exiting through Exit 4 leads to Unhyeongung.
An official from the Seoul Transportation Corporation working at Anguk Station said, "After the court announced the date of the impeachment ruling, we proactively closed some exits due to concerns about large-scale protests occurring nearby, which could lead to safety accidents." Another official noted, "The situation regarding the closures may change in coordination with the police."
The Seoul Transportation Corporation will close Anguk Station starting in the morning on the 4th, the date of the impeachment ruling for President Yoon. The station will be operated without stopping, so passengers will not be able to board or alight from the first train. Nearby Gwanghwamun Station, Gyeongbokgung Station, Jongno 3-ga Station, Jonggak Station, City Hall Station, and Hangangjin Station near the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, will also be bypassed without stopping at the station's discretion.
