A police official stated during a regular press briefing that "they are conducting an investigation with closed-circuit television (CCTV) and witness testimony."
Previously, Rep. Baek was hit by an egg thrown from the opposite sidewalk while holding a press conference in front of the Constitutional Court in Jongno District, Seoul, demanding the swift removal of President Yoon Suk-yeol. Supporters of President Yoon were on the opposite sidewalk at the time. Police did not secure the immediate arrest of the suspect at the scene and formed a dedicated investigation team led by the head of the criminal division at Jongno Police Station.
A Korean National Police Agency official also noted that they have completed the investigation of 12 complainants and witnesses related to the sedition charges against Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church. They said they are analyzing Pastor Jeon's statements, but that the investigation against him has not yet progressed.
This official stated that they have registered all four related individuals regarding the drug-related charges against Lee Cheol-kyu's son, a member of the People Power Party. They added that they are conducting a detailed analysis to determine drug use through hair samples and other means.
Lee, in his 30s and the son of Rep. Lee, is suspected of having attempted to obtain liquid marijuana in a residential area in Seocho District, Seoul, last October. It is alleged that he tried to acquire drugs using a method known as "throwing," where drugs are thrown to a specific location or person. At the time of his arrest, Lee was in a rental car with his wife and another individual.
A police official stated that regarding the sinkhole incident that occurred in Myeongil-dong, Gangdong District, Seoul, in which one person died and another was injured, they will conduct a preliminary investigation in cooperation with the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology. They also reported that in the bridge collapse incident on the Seoul-Sejong Expressway in Anseong City, which resulted in 10 casualties, they are investigating about 50 related individuals and that the investigation is ongoing through joint inspections and analysis of seized materials. Additionally, they added that they have added two individuals related to Hyundai Engineering, the construction company, to the investigation following one individual from a subcontractor.
