Amid the spread of wildfire damage in the Yeongnam region, students from Ewha Womans University have gained attention for producing a guide map for wildfire evacuation shelters.

Recently, a site titled "Map of wildfire evacuation shelters created to provide a small help for the 2025 Gyeongbuk wildfire damage (https://sites.google.com/ewha.ac.kr/sanbuldaepiso)" has been spreading on social media. This map was created based on disaster messages provided by the National Disaster and Safety Portal and utilized Google Maps.
By clicking the buttons for each area such as Andong, Yeongdeok, Yeongyang, and Uiseong on the map, users can easily check the location of evacuation shelters in that area. Detailed information such as evacuation addresses and phone numbers has also been included.
The creators of the map are students from the 2024 cohort majoring in Geography Education at the College of Education, Ewha Womans University. The students explained their motivation for creating the map by stating, "As the wildfires rapidly spread across Gyeongbuk, they left numerous casualties and property damage, turning into a disaster that disrupts the daily lives and livelihoods of the local community, beyond a mere natural disaster. Therefore, we have created a guide map for wildfire evacuation shelters to assist residents in swiftly evacuating from wildfires and preventing damage."
They added, "We hope that the guide map for wildfire evacuation shelters will help families quickly identify their evacuation areas, and we wish to regain our precious spring days spent with loved ones as soon as possible."
