The family of late actor Kim Sae-ron revealed KakaoTalk messages exchanged between actor Kim Soo-hyun and the deceased in 2016, claiming that the deceased was in a relationship with Kim Soo-hyun while underage. The family noted, "We no longer wish for meaningless truth battles after today's press conference."
Bujiseok, an attorney at Law Firm Buyou, revealed during a press conference held at SpaceShare in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 27th, the mobile messages exchanged between the deceased and Kim Soo-hyun in June 2016.
The published messages include Kim Sae-ron sending messages saying "heart" and "suck" to Kim Soo-hyun, to which Kim Soo-hyun replied, "Do it for real later." On another day, Kim Sae-ron said, "I miss you, do you not miss me?" and Kim Soo-hyun responded, "I probably wouldn’t miss you. I do miss you."
Kim Soo-hyun also sent a message saying, "When can I hold you and fall asleep?" When Kim Soo-hyun asked, "Will it take about a year?" and "Three years?" the deceased replied, "I’ll do it when I want to. There’s no such thing."
In regard to this, Bujiseok claimed, "It seems like a conversation demanding a relationship that goes beyond just sleeping together." He added, "If this relationship wasn’t one of dating, then what kind of relationship is it? I want to ask Kim Soo-hyun."
Bujiseok also revealed handwritten letters from Kim Sae-ron, stating, "The period we met was roughly 5 to 6 years," and "You were both my first love and last love."
The letter appears to have been written after Kim Sae-ron posted a photo taken together on Instagram last March upon failing to make contact with Kim Soo-hyun, then deleted the post.
Bujiseok reiterated their initial position, stating, "The reason we had to reveal that Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship with Kim Sae-ron while she was underage is to file a lawsuit against YouTuber Lee Jin-ho, who spread false information, belittled, mocked, and drove the deceased to her death."
He continued, "Initially, Kim Soo-hyun's side lied about not having dated at all, but even after evidence proving they did date was disclosed, they are again lying that they only dated after she became an adult, and I cannot understand why they, including YouTuber Lee Jin-ho and others involved in the incident, are recklessly exposing the deceased's private life and spreading falsehoods."
"The family wishes to end the controversy by presenting evidence materials," he said, adding, "Today's event is not to explain why the deceased ended her life, and we want to emphasize that we do not wish for meaningless truth battles any longer after today."
Bujiseok stated, "The family is suffering from extreme anxiety and mental and physical pain," adding, "We held today’s press conference in the hope of asking for an end to the criticism directed at the family."
