The average wealth of 39 high-ranking police officials is approximately 1.81 billion won.
According to the government public officials ethics committee's announcement on asset disclosure on the 27th, the average wealth of police officials ranked at Daesang or above is 1.81475 billion won. This is an increase of more than 60 million won compared to last year's average of 1.75218 billion won for the 30 individuals subject to disclosure.
Korean National Police Agency Commissioner Jo Ji-ho reported 2.15506 billion won in assets, including an apartment in Songpa-gu, Seoul, and deposits in his spouse's name. However, Jo is currently indicted and detained for alleged involvement in important national security duties during the state of emergency declared on the 12th and 3rd. For the same reason, he was suspended from duty after the impeachment motion passed in the National Assembly in December of last year.
Lee Ho-young, the Vice Commissioner of the Korean National Police Agency who is acting in place of Commissioner Jo, reportedly holds 1.29463 billion won in assets, including an apartment and deposits in Sejong City.
Woo Jong-soo, head of the special investigations team during the state of emergency, reported 1.85173 billion won in assets, including a mixed-use building in Hwaseong-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, and deposits held jointly with his spouse.
The highest asset reporter is Yoon Seung-young, former investigative planning coordinator of the Korean National Police Agency, who reported 6.06744 billion won. This figure includes an apartment in Seocho-gu, Seoul, 4 multi-family dwellings, a leasehold on an apartment in Sujeong-gu, Seongnam, and deposits. However, like Commissioner Jo, he has also been indicted and suspended from his position for his involvement in the operation of an arrest team during the state of emergency.
In contrast, Chungnam Police Chief Bae Dae-hee had the lowest reported assets among those subject to disclosure at 258.71 million won.
Among the 39 individuals subject to asset disclosure within the police, 7 were multi-property owners, including spouses.
