As damage from wildfires continues in the Yeongnam region, diverse efforts to support the affected areas have been ongoing, with donations from stars in the entertainment industry and corporations.
On the 26th, Hope Bridge Nationwide Disaster Relief Association announced that singer IU donated a total of 200 million won, giving 100 million won each to support wildfire victims and to improve the treatment and recognition of firefighters dedicated to disaster sites.
IU said, "I hope this small help can assist those affected, and I express my deepest condolences to the victims," adding, "I sincerely wish that the wildfire is put out quickly without further loss of life." She also noted, "I deeply appreciate the dedication of the firefighters working to extinguish the blaze."
Shin Hoon, the Secretary-General of Hope Bridge, stated, "IU's donation embodies a deep solidarity toward neighbors and gratitude for those working hard in unseen places," and said, "We will do our best to ensure that this precious intent is fully delivered to the affected areas and sites."
Singer Young Tak from Andong also donated 100 million won for victims of the wildfire disaster and relief efforts. The Korea National Red Cross's Gyeongbuk branch announced that Young Tak donated 100 million won to support wildfire victims and Red Cross relief activities in the Gyeongbuk region.
In a statement through his agency, Young Tak remarked, "I was saddened to hear about the wildfire damage that occurred near my hometown of Andong and decided to donate with the hope that those affected can return to their daily lives as soon as possible," adding, "I hope this can provide some comfort and hope to the residents of the affected areas."
The funds donated by Young Tak are expected to be used for emergency livelihood support, provision of relief supplies, and recovery efforts for the affected residents through the Gyeongbuk Red Cross.
On the 27th, JYP Entertainment announced that it donated 500 million won to help residents and children affected by the large wildfires in the Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk regions.
This donation will be used to provide emergency relief supplies such as blankets and essential goods kits to over 10,000 people urgently affected by the wildfires in Uiseong and Sancheong counties, as well as to support urgent living expenses and provide funds for appliances and furniture. Additionally, it will be used for psychological and emotional support for local residents and children.
Meanwhile, according to the business community, the four major groups including Samsung, SK, Hyundai Motor, and LG have donated a total of 9 billion won for the recovery from the wildfire damage and support for the affected residents. Samsung, with eight affiliates including Samsung Electronics and Samsung Display, contributed 3 billion won, while SK, Hyundai Motor, and LG each donated 2 billion won. POSCO also contributed 2 billion won. Lotte, KT, and Hanwha each donated 1 billion won, and Doosan and CJ each contributed 500 million won, while Hyundai Department Store Group sent 400 million won.
The Korea Gas Corporation, a public enterprise, also donated 100 million won, including 30 million won raised spontaneously by its employees.
Yim Siwan, a singer from Uljoo, generously donated 100 million won, and singer Jang Min-ho also contributed 100 million won. Singer and actress Bae Suzy donated 100 million won as well. Broadcaster Yoo Jae-suk, NCT's Hae-chan, actors Go Min-si and Park Bo-young, and others also donated 50 million won. Yim Siwan contributed 30 million won, and Kim Jin-woo from the group WINNER donated 10 million won.
