Moon Hyung-bae, acting president of the Constitutional Court, was found to have assets worth 1.54379 billion won as of the end of last year. The person who reported the most assets among high-ranking officials of the Constitutional Court was Justice Lee Mi-sun, who reported 7.52366 billion won.
The Constitutional Court's Public Officials Ethics Committee announced on the 27th that the average total assets of 12 officials, including the acting president, Constitutional Court justices, and the deputy secretary-general, amounted to 2.30535 billion won, an increase of 78.59 million won from the previous year. The net assets increased by an average of 4.63 million won.
The average total assets of the seven Constitutional Court justices, including Acting President Moon, Lee Mi-sun, Kim Hyung-doo, Jeong Jeong-mi, Jeong Hyung-sik, Kim Bok-hyung, and Jeong Gye-seon, was approximately 2.737 billion won. Justice Cho Han-chang, who was appointed on January 1 after working as a lawyer, was excluded from this asset disclosure.
Acting President Moon's total assets increased by 29.47 million won compared to the previous year's reported amount, and net assets increased by 50.52 million won. Moon noted that "the increase in assets was due to salary savings." Moon has reported owning land worth 440 million won in Gimhae, Hadong, and Sacheon, as well as properties worth 540 million won, including apartments in Busan under his and his spouse's names. He also reported having deposits worth 540 million won.
The top asset report among high-ranking officials of the Constitutional Court was made by Justice Lee Mi-sun, whose declared assets amounted to 7.52366 billion won. This reflects an increase of about 300 million won compared to the previous year. Justice Lee explained the reason for her asset increase, saying, "This was due to my spouse's severance pay and salary savings."
Justice Lee reported holding land worth 3.570 billion won in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and Jindo, Jeollanam-do, under her and her spouse's names. Additionally, she reported owning properties worth 4.170 billion won, including apartment sale rights in Seocho-gu, and deposits of 3.32 billion won. Furthermore, Justice Lee disclosed the purchase of a new BMW car worth 40 million won under her spouse's name.
Deputy Secretary-General Kim Yong-ho reported assets of 3.39490 billion won, which was the second highest amount. His total assets increased by about 400 million won compared to the previous year, making it the largest increase among high-ranking officials of the Constitutional Court. Kim remarked that "the increase in assets was due to inheritance and salary savings."
Kim reported owning land worth 360 million won, buildings valued at 1.49 billion won, and deposits of 1.27 billion won, along with three vehicles worth 6 million won under his and his spouse's names. Additionally, he reported holding stocks worth 230 million won under his name, his spouse's name, and his eldest son's name.
