A forest fire watchman, who was deployed to the site of a forest fire in Gyeongbuk and went missing, was found dead on the 27th.

According to forest authorities, around 11:50 a.m. on that day, a vehicle in Majeong-ri, Yeongdeok County, Gyeongbuk, was found burned with forest fire watchman A (69) discovered dead inside.

On the 25th, A was deployed to the forest fire site that spread to Yeongdeok. That evening, A was returning home from the Yeongdeok Community Center, but when A did not arrive home, family members reported to the police.

The police determined that A was engulfed in flames on the road while returning home and plan to investigate the exact cause of A's death.

As of 2 p.m. that day, the number of confirmed deaths from the major forest fire in Uiseong, including A, stood at 23.
