As the wildfire in Uiseong, North Gyeongsang Province spreads to Andong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, and now Yeongdeok, the Ministry of Justice's Correctional Headquarters transferred some inmates from the North Gyeongsang Province Northern Prison (formerly Cheongsong Prison) on the 26th.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the Correctional Headquarters transferred about 500 inmates, including those from North Gyeongsang Province Northern Prison 2, to correctional facilities under the Daegu Regional Correctional Office.

Earlier, the Correctional Headquarters had completed preparations to evacuate about 2,800 inmates housed in North Gyeongsang Province Northern Prisons 1 to 3. However, as the fire was somewhat controlled and the wind direction changed, it explained that prisons 1 and 3 had seen improvements in the surrounding wildfire situation, allowing only the inmates from prison 2 to be evacuated.

The inmates were transported via escort buses, and there were no reports of any escape or other emergencies.

The Ministry of Justice noted, "There are currently no human or material damages," and added, "We will continue to monitor the situation closely and take necessary safety measures."
