A forest fire broke out in Songdae-ri, Eonyang-eup, Ulju County, Ulsan, at about 11:54 p.m. on the 25th. A forest fire had occurred in Ulju County on the 22nd and was still being extinguished when a new fire broke out in Eonyang-eup.
On the same day at 2 p.m., forest authorities issued a Level 1 forest fire alert. A Level 1 alert is issued when the affected area is expected to be less than 30 hectares and the extinguishing time is anticipated to be within 8 hours.
Ulju County ordered residents in nearby villages and apartments, including Songdae-ri and Sangbuk Hyangsani and Jinhae-ri, to evacuate to nearby schools, gyms, and administrative welfare centers.
The location of the fire is known to be near the site where a large forest fire in 2013 destroyed 280 hectares of forest. Forest authorities are deploying three helicopters and over 300 personnel to extinguish the fire.
