The forest fire that broke out in Uiseong, North Gyeongsang Province, spread to the Bonghwa area on the 25th, following Andong, Cheongsong, and Yeongyang.
According to Bonghwa County, the fire started around 7:48 p.m. in the wooded area of Gaedan-ri, Mulyami. Forestry authorities estimate that the fire originated from the embers of a wildfire in northern North Gyeongsang Province. Embers refer to the phenomenon of sparks being carried by the wind.
As the fire broke out, Bonghwa County issued an evacuation order via safety text messages, urging nearby residents to evacuate to the Mulyami Community Center.
