Namsung A is under suspicion of sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend, but he denied the allegations during the investigation. He presented an Instagram message from the woman, which requested that they 'meet again' as evidence. He claims there was never any unilateral sexual assault.
However, A was arrested on charges of sexual assault in February. Prosecutor Yoon Jae-hee, who has been working in the criminal division of the Chuncheon District Prosecutors' Office in Gangneung, found counter-evidence that could refute A's claims. Prosecutor Yoon is a woman and has been in the prosecutor's office for four years.
Prosecutor Yoon focused on the Instagram message that A claimed to have received from his ex-girlfriend B. B had a habit of not using a 'period' in her messages. However, the messages submitted by A in denying his allegations contained periods at the end of sentences or words.
There were more suspicious points. The tone of the messages differed significantly from the way B normally communicated. It was rather closer to A's style of speaking.
Additionally, during the time A claimed to have received an Instagram message from B requesting to 'meet again', there were no such messages in their text exchanges. B only discussed the breakup and did not send any texts requesting a reunion.
Prosecutor Yoon suspected that A may have manipulated B's messages. In fact, during the digital forensic process, logs showed that A had secretly accessed B's Instagram account. Based on this evidence, when Prosecutor Yoon applied for an arrest warrant for A, the court issued the warrant, stating that there was a concern for evidence destruction. Furthermore, Yoon added charges against A for illegally filming the body of another woman.
The Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office announced on the 25th that it had selected Prosecutor Yoon as the 'Outstanding Prosecutor of February 2025'. An official from the office stated, 'Through proactive direct investigations, Prosecutor Yoon clarified the case by uncovering evidence manipulation and additional crimes, and she also ensured victim support such as selecting a public attorney for the victim and providing psychological treatment costs.'
