On the 25th, the Korean National Farmers' Association (JeonNong) announced that they would hold a tractor march rally demanding the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol in the area from Gwacheon to Seoul, raising concerns about traffic congestion in the area.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency stated that traffic congestion is expected in areas such as Dongjak Daero and Gwacheon Daero in Seocho District due to the afternoon rally. In particular, severe traffic jams are anticipated in the direction from Gyeonggi's Gwacheon City to the city center of Seoul near the Namtaryeong pass. Traffic may also be controlled in the direction from Sadang-dong in Seoul's Dongjak District to Gwacheon City.
The JeonNong's Jeon Bong-jun Struggle Corps announced that they would march from Namtaryeong to Gwanghwamun in Jongno District, mobilizing dozens of tractors and trucks. Although the police prohibited the rally through a notification of assembly restrictions, JeonNong maintains its position to proceed with the protest.
The police urged that there are not many detours in the area, so drivers should use detours from a distance or take the subway.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency deployed about 160 traffic officers at intersections such as Isu Station and Sadang Station to facilitate vehicle communication. They stated they would guide vehicles to detour east and west while operating the opposite lanes as variable lanes during the rally to maintain north-south traffic flow as much as possible and minimize inconvenience to citizens.
A police official said, “If you have to use a vehicle, please check traffic information in advance.”
