Search efforts are ongoing to locate the motorcycle rider who fell into a large sinkhole that occurred near Daemyung Elementary School in Myungil-dong, Gangdong District, on the 24th. However, the motorcycle and a mobile phone have been found.
According to the fire department and authorities in Seoul on the 25th, the fire department discovered the motorcycle that had fallen into the sinkhole at around 3:30 a.m. earlier that same day. A mobile phone, presumed to belong to the fallen motorcycle rider, was also found around 1:37 a.m. The motorcycle is reported to have been underground approximately 30 meters from the site where the sinkhole occurred.
The fire department has resumed search operations for the motorcycle rider, deploying rescue teams and heavy equipment since 7 a.m.
Around 6:29 p.m. the previous day, a large sinkhole measuring approximately 20 meters in diameter and 20 meters deep occurred at an intersection near Hangyung Middle and High School in Gangdong District. In addition to the fallen motorcycle, one driver of a car that passed through the accident site just before the collapse sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
