Baek Ho, president of the Seoul Transportation Corporation, said on the 24th, "I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the long delay in train service due to the accident on a weekend morning with a high number of outing passengers."

On the same day, President Baek noted in the materials distributed by the Seoul Transportation Corporation that regarding the derailment accident that occurred the previous day at Sindorim Station on Line 2 of the Seoul subway, "We will quickly identify the cause and do our best to prevent recurrence, and we will also ensure thorough facility inspections."

Earlier, around 7:50 a.m. on the 23rd, a derailment accident occurred at Sindorim Station. As a result of this accident, train operations were suspended between Hongdaeipgu Station and Seoul National University Station on Line 2, and recovery was completed around 4:26 p.m. Train operations resumed at 5:30 p.m., 9 hours and 40 minutes after the accident occurred. The inner circular line continued to operate normally. The Seoul Transportation Corporation deployed 14 replacement buses between Hongdaeipgu Station and Seoul National University Station starting at 11:15 a.m.

The Seoul Transportation Corporation initially determined that the train outbound from Platform 4 at Sindorim Station on Line 2 collided with a track barrier and derailed. Subsequent investigations revealed that a train dispatched from the Sinjeong Vehicle Depot violated a stop signal at Platform 4 at Sindorim Station and proceeded past the stop sign at the end of the track before derailing.

A spokesperson for the corporation said, "We are currently keeping various possibilities open regarding the exact circumstances of the accident, including human, facility, and system errors." It was also mentioned that customized one-on-one training would be conducted for crew members, and inspections would be carried out to prevent similar incidents from recurring.

The Seoul Transportation Corporation affixed apology notices at the 12 stations between Hongdaeipgu Station and Seoul National University Station affected by the disruptions in train service the previous day.
