The government is pursuing a plan to establish a facility related to national civil service recruitment in Sejong City by integrating various existing facilities. The Ministry of Personnel Management noted on the 24th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Local Administration Agency regarding this.
Currently, tasks related to civil service recruitment are being carried out in various regions. For example, while civil service exam questions are prepared at the National Examination Center in Gwacheon, the printing is outsourced to a printing house in North Chungcheong Province due to the lack of a printing press there. Additionally, the recruitment of personnel, including 9th-grade civil servants, is conducted through interviews at the Gwacheon Human Resources Development Center and external facilities rented for the process.
In this regard, the Ministry of Personnel Management plans to construct an integrated facility (tentatively named the National Recruitment Center) where all recruitment-related tasks, from the creation of civil service exam questions to interviews and scoring, can be handled in one location. The Ministry of Personnel Management and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport agreed to promote the construction of the National Recruitment Center, considering the significance of national balanced development and Sejong City's symbolic value.
Yeon Won-jeong, head of the Ministry of Personnel Management, said, “We will actively cooperate with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport to ensure that the transfer of national civil service recruitment functions is successfully established, allowing the happy city to become the center of national personnel administration.”
Kim Hyung-ryeol, head of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, said, “We will carry out the construction of the National Recruitment Center without any setbacks.”
