The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that the number of voters for the by-election scheduled for April 2 is 4,629,08. This is based on the voter registration finalized 12 days before the election date on the 21st.
The upcoming by-election will take place in a total of 21 locations. ▲ One for the superintendent of education (Busan) ▲ Five for local government heads (Guro District in Seoul, Asan in South Chungcheong Province, Damyang County in South Jeolla Province, Gimcheon City in North Gyeongsang Province, Geoje City in South Gyeongsang Province) ▲ Seven for provincial council members (Daegu Dalseo District 6, Ganghwa County in Incheon, Yuseong District 2 in Daejeon, Seongnam City 6 in Gyeonggi Province, Gunpo City 4 in Gyeonggi Province, Dangjin City 2 in South Chungcheong Province, Changwon City 12 in South Gyeongsang Province) ▲ Eight for local council members (Jungnang District in Seoul, Mapo District in Seoul, Dongjak District in Seoul, Ganghwa County in Incheon, Gwangyang City in South Jeolla Province, Goheung County in South Jeolla Province, Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province, Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province).
Initially, the by-election was scheduled to be held in 23 locations. However, it was excluded from Gyeongbuk Seongju County for provincial council members and from Damyang County in South Jeolla Province for local council members. In these regions, one candidate ran unopposed and has already been declared the winner.
The election with the largest number of voters in this by-election is the Busan superintendent of education election. A total of 2,870,324 can cast their votes, accounting for 62% of the voter count in this by-election.
Among the voters in the by-election, there are 7,924 overseas citizens and 13,116 foreign voters. Additionally, 12,019 are eligible for absentee voting. By gender, there are 2,263,644 Namsung (49%) and 2,357,264 women (51%). It appears that there are 93,620 more female voters.
Meanwhile, this by-election will begin official campaigning on the 20th following candidate registration on the 13th and 14th. Early voting will take place on the 28th and 29th, and the main voting will be held on April 2. Voting hours are from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for early voting and from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the main voting.
