A fire broke out at a tangerine sorting warehouse in Jeju. The fire was extinguished approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes after it started.
According to the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters, a report of a fire at a tangerine sorting warehouse was received around 5:50 p.m. on the 24th.
Fire authorities deployed all personnel from the local fire station to tackle the fire. At the time of the fire, a dry weather advisory was in effect for the northern and eastern parts of Jeju, making firefighting efforts difficult. Wind speeds also gusted strongly at 15 m/s.
After approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, the initial extinguishing was completed around 8:13 p.m. The response stage was lifted around 8:30 p.m.
The sorting warehouse where the fire occurred was confirmed to have been storing fertilizers and pesticides inside. There were no casualties resulting from the fire. Fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage as soon as firefighting operations are complete.
