Services on the Outer Circular Line train route between Hongdae Station and Seoul National University Station resumed after a 9-hour and 40-minute halt due to a derailment incident at Sindorim Station on Subway Line 2 on the morning of the 23rd.
According to the Seoul Transportation Corporation, the Outer Circular Line train heading from Hongdae Station to Seoul National University Station has been back in operation since 5:30 p.m. on that day. As the train recovery work was completed, the Outer Circular Line train on Line 2 resumed normal operations across all sections after about 10 hours.
Earlier, around 7:50 a.m., a train departing from Sindorim Station on Subway Line 2 in Guro District, Seoul, collided with a track barrier and derailed. The collision with the track barrier occurs when a train goes beyond its designated stopping position and hits a blocking wall installed at the end of the platform or track. One of the 10 cars of the derailed train was off the tracks, and there were no casualties.
The corporation activated the accident response headquarters and initiated recovery efforts at 9:35 a.m. on that day. Although 11 replacement buses were deployed to the suspended route, a surge of subway passengers using the buses led to severe confusion at each stop, causing continued inconvenience for citizens.
