On the morning of the 23rd, a train on Seoul Subway Line 2 derailed. As a result, the operation of the outer circular train service between Hongdae Exit Station and Seoul National University Station was suspended. The inner circular train is operating normally.
The accident occurred at around 7:50 a.m. when a train departing from Sindorim Station on Seoul Subway Line 2 collided with a train stopping barrier on the tracks. A train stopping barrier collision happens when a train passes its designated stopping position and hits a barrier installed at the end of the platform or the end of the tracks.
The Seoul Metropolitan Subway Corporation stated that the accident occurred while they were about to start train operations. No casualties have been confirmed yet.
The corporation plans to establish a field accident response headquarters to initiate recovery efforts for the train accident.
