A fire that broke out in Onyang-eup, Ulju County, Ulsan, has continued for over 21 hours, prompting forest authorities to issue a level 3 forest fire alert. A level 3 forest fire alert is issued when the expected damage area is over 100 hectares.
The Korea Forest Service stated that as of 9 a.m. on that day, a level 3 forest fire alert had been issued related to the fire that occurred in the area of San108-1, Unhwa-ri, Onyang-eup, Ulju County, Ulsan.
This fire began around 12:12 p.m. the previous day and has continued to the present. The affected area was reported to be 35 hectares as of that day, but it has now more than tripled, exceeding 100 hectares.
The Korea Forest Service noted that seven firefighting helicopters and 719 firefighters are currently being deployed to extinguish the fire.
