The affected area due to the wildfires that occurred simultaneously across the country, including Sancheong in Gyeongnam, Uiseong in Gyeongbuk, Ulju in Ulsan, and Gimhae in Gyeongnam, totals 3,286.11 hectares, as of the 23rd. This area is equivalent to approximately 4,602 football fields.
According to a situation report released by the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters at 8 a.m. on this day, there are a total of four areas where wildfires are ongoing.
The first place where the wildfire broke out was Sancheong, Gyeongnam, starting around 3:28 p.m. on the 21st. As of 8 a.m. that day, the firefighting rate was at 30%, and the area affected by the wildfire was 1,329 hectares. The Sancheong wildfire has resulted in a total of 10 casualties, including 4 deaths and 6 injuries.
Currently, 33 firefighting helicopters and 1,351 personnel are being deployed to fight the wildfire.
The wildfire in Uiseong, Gyeongbuk, occurred around 11:25 a.m. on the 22nd. Currently, 1,802 hectares are affected by the wildfire, with a firefighting rate of 2.8%. On the same day, around 12:12 p.m., a wildfire also broke out in Ulju, Ulsan. As of 8 a.m., 85 hectares were affected, but it was reported to have expanded to over 100 hectares after 9 a.m.
Around 2:03 p.m. on the 22nd, a wildfire also broke out in Gimhae, Gyeongnam. The area affected by the wildfire is 70.11 hectares, with a firefighting rate of 20%.
In terms of evacuation status, Uiseong had the highest number of evacuees at 951. This was followed by Sancheong with 335, Gimhae with 148, and Ulju with 80. All of these individuals have been dispersed to nearby temporary shelters.
As of 8 a.m. that day, firefighting efforts are still underway in the four areas where the wildfires have occurred. A total of 99 helicopters and 4,875 personnel, including firefighters, have been mobilized for wildfire suppression since the 21st.
