On the 23rd, the Seoul city government will urgently support firefighting personnel and fire trucks at the wildfire site in Uiseong, North Gyeongsang Province.

The city announced that it decided to hold an emergency meeting on 'Seoul's wildfire support and prevention measures' chaired by Mayor Oh Se-hoon that morning.

Since early that morning, the city has been helping with firefighting efforts at the Uiseong wildfire site. The scale of support includes 65 firefighting personnel and 22 fire vehicles (10 pump trucks, 10 water tank trucks, and 1 each of 119 recovery vehicles and patrol cars). Following Mayor Oh's policy of 'deploy first, report later' for the emergency site, personnel and vehicles were first sent to the wildfire site in consultation with the Korea Fire Service.

The Uiseong wildfire has spread to the largest scale among the four wildfires that occurred nationwide. As of 8 a.m. that day, the affected area by the wildfire is 1,802 hectares, which is equivalent to 2,524 soccer fields.

The scale is large, and the speed of controlling the flames is slow. As of 8 a.m. that day, the firefighting rate was 2.8%. The firefighting rates in the other three locations were all in double digits.

Mayor Oh noted, "The city of Seoul will spare no effort to ensure that the wildfire is extinguished as quickly as possible," adding, "We will do our best to support available firefighting equipment and personnel in close consultation with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety."
