The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions noted that if the Constitutional Court does not set a schedule for the impeachment ruling against President Yoon Suk-yeol by the 26th, it will conduct a general strike on the 27th. The court has completed the arguments in the impeachment trial but has not yet disclosed the ruling schedule.
The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions held a press conference on the 20th to announce the schedule for the general strike. The organization stated that if the court does not set the ruling schedule for President Yoon’s impeachment trial by that time, it plans to conduct a general strike every Thursday after the 27th. However, it decided to separately assess the fighting stance depending on the outcome of the ruling.
Chairperson Yang Kyung-soo said, “The Constitutional Court still has not responded to the longest presidential impeachment case in history,” and added, “We can wait no longer.” He urged members to take to the streets, saying, “Even if a mountain stands in our way, we will push through and overcome it.” The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions proposed participation in the general strike for 'the immediate resignation of Yoon Suk-yeol and urgent social reform actions.'
