An incident occurred in which a professor at Korea University gave a lecture while intoxicated and even cursed at students.
According to Korea University on the 20th, on the evening of the 14th around 7 p.m., Professor A from the Business Administration Department entered the KMBA class held at the Korea University Business Hall in Anam-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, while under the influence of alcohol.
Students who saw Professor A intoxicated suggested, "How about taking a break?" In response, Professor A reportedly cursed at the students and said that "I am a tenured professor, so even if you raise an issue, it won’t matter."
The students protested to the school, and after confirming the facts, Korea University replaced the instructor for the class. Professor A apologized to the students via email on the 18th and is expected to formally apologize in person in the classroom on the 21st. Korea University noted that it is "reviewing disciplinary action against Professor A."
Professor A specializes in accounting and has served as the president of the Korean Accounting Association and as an outside director for large corporations.
