The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 20th that the Seoul Gangnam Employment and Labor Office has begun a random labor inspection at the headquarters of Theborn Korea.
Theborn Korea, led by CEO Baek Jong-won, is facing allegations of a 'staff blacklist.' It is claimed that some franchise restaurant owners of the Saemaeul Restaurant, operated by Theborn Korea, mentioned certain employee names in a private online cafe, hindering their employment.
Recently, a post demanding a labor inspection of Theborn Korea was uploaded to the National Agency for Information on Disclosures. After receiving the petition, the Ministry of Employment and Labor decides whether to conduct labor inspections at business sites, and on that day, an inspection was indeed carried out.
According to the Labor Standards Act, it is illegal to create and use a list for the purpose of obstructing employees' employment. Violating this law can result in imprisonment for up to five years or a fine of up to 50 million won.
A Ministry of Employment and Labor official said, "We will closely examine the facts and take strict action regarding any violations of the law."
