The prosecution has sought a one-year prison sentence for former President Moon Jae-in's daughter, Da-hye (42), who was indicted on charges of drunk driving and illegal lodging business.

On the morning of the 20th at 11:10 a.m., during the first trial held at the Seoul Western District Court by Director General Kim Hyung-seok, the prosecution requested the court to impose a one-year prison sentence on Da-hye, who is facing charges of violating the Road Traffic Act and the Public Health Management Act.

The prosecution noted, “Considering that the defendant's blood alcohol concentration was high and that she caused a personal property traffic accident due to drunk driving, as well as the fact that she generated revenue of approximately 136 million won over about five years in violation of the Public Health Management Act, we ask for consideration in sentencing.”

Da-hye acknowledged the charges during the trial. She said, “I acknowledge all the wrongs I committed and deeply regret them,” adding, “I sincerely apologize to the victims who suffered because of me.” She went on to express, “I will not repeat the same mistakes in the future, so I request leniency.”

Da-hye appeared in front of the court around 10:55 a.m., about 15 minutes before the trial began, dressed in a black coat, wearing a mask, and using crutches. She did not respond to questions from reporters such as, “Do you acknowledge the charges?” and, “What aspects will you clarify during the trial?” and quickly entered the courthouse.

Earlier, Da-hye was indicted on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act after allegedly colliding with a taxi while changing lanes in front of the Hamilton Hotel in Itaewon, Yongsan District, on October 5 last year. At the time of the accident, her blood alcohol concentration exceeded the license revocation threshold (0.08%) at 0.149%.

Da-hye is also facing charges of operating illegal lodging businesses at her officetel in Yeongdeungpo District, a villa in Yangpyeong-dong, and a single-family house in Hyeopjae-ri, Hallim-eup, Jeju City (violation of the Public Health Management Act).
