A man in his 70s, who attempted self-immolation after distributing leaflets supporting President Yoon Suk-yeol, died 12 days later.
Mr. A (79) distributed leaflets around noon on the 7th on the rooftop of the Urban Architecture Exhibition Hall near the Seoul City Council in Jung-gu, Seoul. He then sprayed an ignitable substance all over his body and set himself on fire. The leaflet he distributed contained criticism of the opposition party and the phrase, "Long live President Yoon Suk-yeol."
According to police and others, Mr. A died on the 19th while receiving treatment at a burn specialist hospital in Seoul.
This is the second time a supporter of President Yoon has died by self-immolation. Earlier, on Jan. 15, when President Yoon was arrested by the High-ranking Officials Crime Investigation Office (CIO), a man in his 50s attempted self-immolation near the Government Complex Gwacheon in Gyeonggi Province, where the CIO is located. This man died on the 20th of the same month.
