On the morning of the 19th, citizens experienced inconvenience on their commute as the Uijeongbu Light Rail Transit halted operations due to a train malfunction.
According to the Uijeongbu Light Rail Transit, around 7:58 a.m. on that day, a train running toward Gonja Station from Ar-ryong Station stopped due to an inverter malfunction.
Passengers had to wait inside the train for over 30 minutes, and it was reported that rescuers were working to tow the broken train with another train.
The Uijeongbu Light Rail Transit operates a driverless circular route, making it impossible to reverse; thus, if one train stops, operations across the entire line are halted.
A Uijeongbu Light Rail Transit official said, "The next train is pushing the broken train to perform rescue operations," adding, "It is expected to be restored soon."
Earlier, on the morning of the previous day, the Uijeongbu Light Rail Transit suspended operations for 2 hours and 10 minutes from 5:15 a.m. due to heavy snowfall, causing inconvenience for commuters.
