The seizure search at the office of the law firm Lee & Ko was carried out by the Financial Investigation Unit 1 of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office (Director General Kim Soo-hong).
Employees of Lee & Ko are accused of having gained unfair profits by becoming aware of undisclosed information related to stock public offerings while managing documents from 2021 to 2023.
They allegedly purchased stocks of three companies, including Austem, using their own accounts and borrowed accounts, then sold them after the information was disclosed to realize profits, resulting in unfair gains amounting to billions of won, according to the prosecution.
The Financial Services Commission's Securities and Futures Commission detected these allegations last January and reported them to the prosecution for charges related to the use of undisclosed important information.
