According to the legal community on the 14th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's dedicated investigation team for the Myung-tae-kyun case (Head of Team Lee Ji-hyeong) summoned Kim in the afternoon and is currently questioning him. This is the first time Kim has been questioned as a witness regarding the nomination interference allegations.

The prosecution is expected to ask Kim about the nomination process for the mayor of Pohang during the local elections in June 2022. Kim was the chairman of the People Power Party in Gyeongbuk during the June 1 local elections in 2022.

Previously, lawmaker Lee Jun-seok of the Reform Party held a press conference at the National Assembly member's office in November last year, revealing allegations that President Yoon intervened in the nomination process for the mayor of Pohang during the June 1 local elections in 2022. He claimed that Yoon, while he was the elected representative, demanded the nomination of a specific individual for the mayor of Pohang and the head of the Gangseo District Office in Seoul. The prosecution is reportedly investigating these related matters.
