As false information spread on social media about a passenger who called for a ride-hailing driver through Tmap almost being kidnapped, Tmap Mobility took action to clarify that it was not true.
According to the information and communication technology (ICT) industry on the 11th, Tmap Mobility announced on Instagram that "claims related to the Tmap ride-hailing service being involved are not true" regarding a post related to ride-hailing controversies in the Chungju region of North Chungcheong Province that has been circulating on social media.
Recently, a post appeared on X (formerly Twitter) claiming that a person who called for a Tmap ride-hailing driver in Chungju on the 7th was almost kidnapped by a group of three.
The author of the post also claimed to have received a response from Tmap, stating that "a foreign individual whose face is different from the driver registered on the app was registered." This post has not been verified, but has spread rapidly on social media.
In response, Tmap Mobility refuted that there was no record of using their service in Chungju at the date and time mentioned, and that they had never explained to the author that there was an error in the driver information.
Tmap Mobility stated, "We are not related to the content mentioned in the post," and requested, "The spread of unfounded information can cause confusion for users, so please refrain from sharing inaccurate information."
Currently, the original author of the post has acknowledged posting incorrect information and is reported to have written a reflective post.
