The decision on whether to disclose the personal information of the suspect, Myung Mo, arrested for allegedly killing elementary school student Kim Ha-neul in Daejeon, will be made on the 11th.
The Daejeon Police Agency announced on the 10th that it will hold a committee meeting on the disclosure of personal information for the 40-year-old teacher Myung at 2 p.m. on the 11th at its headquarters. The police have obtained a consent form from the victim's bereaved family regarding the disclosure of Myung's personal information and have completed the requirements for forming and holding the committee by appointing seven committee members.
The committee is said to be comprised of policemen from the Daejeon Police Agency as well as external commissioners from the legal, academic, and medical fields. The list of committee members will not be made public. More than half of the members must agree in order to disclose the suspect's personal information.
Myung is accused of killing Ha-neul at an elementary school in Daejeon around 5:50 p.m. on the 10th of last month. After the crime, Myung injured himself and underwent vein suturing surgery, subsequently receiving treatment at a hospital. The police attempted to conduct an in-person investigation after Myung completed the surgery; however, the investigation was halted due to a medical opinion stating that further stabilization was necessary due to elevated blood pressure.
Subsequently, Myung underwent his first in-person investigation on the 7th and was arrested the following day. The Daejeon District Court conducted a substantive examination of the arrest warrant for Myung on the 8th and issued the warrant, stating that there is a concern of flight.
