Law firm Barun announced on the 10th that it has recruited former Director General of the Judiciary Kim Sang-kyu (Class of 33) and Lee Won-ho (Class of 35).
Attorney Kim Sang-kyu was appointed as a judge at the Suwon District Court in 2007 and has since served at the Seoul Central District Court, Chuncheon District Court Yeongwol Branch, Jeonju District Court, and Suwon District Court Pyeongtaek Branch before joining Barun as a member attorney this year.
Attorney Kim has handled cases such as the compensation claim for the Korea Frozen Warehouse fire in Seoi-cheon, the compensation for employee invention at Samsung Electronics, the trademark infringement case against Kyochon Chicken, and the regular wages case concerning the Kangwon Land labor union. He also presided over cases involving violations of the Political Fund Act by members of the National Assembly and local government heads, violations of the Securities Exchange Act by JY Group, a bribery case involving the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation chairman, and violations of the Anti-Corruption Act by LH Corporation employees regarding the leak of development information.
Attorney Lee Won-ho started as a judge at Jeonju District Court in 2009 and has served at the Seoul Central District Court, Suwon District Court Ansan Branch, and Jeonju District Court before becoming a Director General at the Uijeongbu District Court and joining Barun this year.
Attorney Lee handled the substantive examination of warrants for two years starting in 2021 and has dealt with numerous criminal cases as a dedicated warrant and criminal sole judge. He also served as the chief judge in several apartment defect compensation cases, including those concerning the Gangil River Park apartments, while working at the Seoul Central District Court. It has been reported that he also oversaw various lawsuits related to large construction projects, apartment construction defects, and compensation lawsuits for sunlight rights violations.
