The prosecution has indicted Lee Jeong-seop, a prosecutor at the Daejeon High Prosecutors' Office, without detention on charges including having his child registered at a false address and receiving room fees from an executive of a conglomerate related to resort use.
The Criminal Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Director General Kim Seung-ho) noted on the 6th that it has indicted the prosecutor without detention on charges of violating the Resident Registration Act and the Anti-Corruption and Whistleblower Protection Act. The prosecution has transferred the investigation into the prosecutor's alleged leak of official secrets to the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials.
The prosecutor is accused of having registered at a false address for his child's entrance to elementary school and receiving resort room fees from an executive of a conglomerate at the resort. He is also under suspicion of having checked the criminal record of an employee at a golf course operated by his brother-in-law.
The investigation into this case began when the Democratic Party of Korea reported the prosecutor in October 2023.
